Everyday when I am driving on the long and congested freeways of Los Angeles, I see contractors driving with me. How do I know they are contractors? From the advertising on their trucks! I see everything from established plumbing franchises to pest controllers to full remodelers to HVAC Repair Companies trying to make a name. I notice them all - and rarely applaud any. The most typical sign I see is a white trucks with black words within a black oval shape - and I would be surprised if they gain many leads this way. The photo above is easy to read sure, but it's not the clearest in explaining ...

What better way to see the product is to have the designer meet you in the comfort of your home! Most work anytime during the day and you can schedule 7 days a week. Skip having to go back and forth to the Brick and Mortar stores with color selections, samples of various sizes and weights!Having a professional designer in your home is an advantage over a sales person that is hired at the box stores helps in color selections, material advantages and disadvantages for your particular needs.

Fortunately, after the demolition of the existing roof, we had identified severely rotted framing arround the chimney. Later we were informed by the owner that 24 months prior they had that brick fireplace/chimney installed. The frustration brought on by the last contractor was quickly overwhelmed by the relief of a new, trustworthy professional.

You can spend a small fortune investing in granite, travertine, marble, ect for your kitchen, shower or floors. If you do not properly protect that investment and follow up with maintenance your beautiful shower, countertop or floor is going to look stained, dull and worn. If it is stained it is permanently damaged and with granite even a glass of water can cause a stain or permanent ring. Unfortunately there is not a surface out there that does not require some kind of maintenance and follow up care. It is vital to educate yourself so that you do not harm that surface and ensure the longevity...

Shop work waits until quiet time: making drawers for a NYC Kitchen project, cabinets for a beauty parlor; radiator covers, well really combination radiator covers & library; custom computer desk with filing system, entertainment systems, building custom loft ladders for sale on the internet, stuff like that.

Proud work...Customer wanted new siding over 70 year old worn out asphalt siding. Took the opportunity to retrofit new windows and foam panel insulation under Hardi-Cement siding...a lot of details too, like new doorbells, mailbox, doors, lead-glass feature windows & internal storms, new gutters & downspouts with underground drainage. New trim of PVC composite finished it beautifully. A recent local 70 MPH wind shook the house, took some trees down and scared the owners but a morning inspection proved uneventful. Now they're sending me birthday cards and referrals.

When I attended the 60’s turn 50 panel discussion, there was one building that received plenty of attention – perhaps because it was the location of the discussion. I had always thought the Department of Water and Power was an ugly, geometric building, completely boring with no thought gone into the design. Apparently my untrained eye was completely off the mark. The DWP or the John Ferraro Building, located in downtown Los Angeles, is a marvel and far from thoughtless. With its glass wall façade allowing light from inside to light up the building – it resembled a la...
